James Olsen DMD, MD, FRCD(C)

Board Certified Specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Dr. James Olsen was born and raised in Cardston, Alberta.  He attended Brigham Young University, where he received a B.S. degree in Zoology cum laude.  He then attended dental school at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated with cum laude in thesis.

After graduating from dental school, Dr. Olsen completed his six year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at UCLA in Los Angeles, California.  Included in these six years was a one year surgical internship in the General Surgery Department at UCLA and two years at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he obtained his M.D.

For the last several years, Dr. Olsen has been practicing in Los Angeles, California with the Los Angeles Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (LACOMS).  His dental and medical degrees from US academic programs have provided Dr. Olsen with a specialized background and exposure to the wide scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery.  Dr. Olsen has an interest in surgical mission trips and has done several cleft lip & palate missions to Mexico and Vietnam. His clinic interests include the treatment of impacted wisdom teeth and the placement of dental implants.

Dr. Olsen enjoys spending time with his wife, Bekah, and five children doing sports and outdoor activities.  He is excited to have joined Chinook Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and to be back working in southern Alberta. 

Dr. Olsen is a Registered Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in Alberta, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada FRCD(C).
